The Challenge
Most cafe websites are just slow, digital brochures. They look okay on a desktop, but they fail the 'walking customer' test.
When someone is walking down the street in Amsterdam looking for a place to sit, they don't want to struggle with a clunky PDF menu or a desktop-first layout that requires zooming. They need to see the vibe, the menu, and the location — instantly.
The Strategy
We engineered Luma to be Mobile-First by default. We didn't just make it 'responsive'; we built it to feel like a native app.
- Thumb-Driven UI: All critical CTAs (Menu, Visit, Book) are placed within the natural reach of a thumb.
- App-Like Flow: Smooth vertical transitions and high-contrast typography that makes the cafe's personality pop on small screens.
- Frictionless Menus: No PDFs. Just a lightning-fast, readable interface that works perfectly even on weak 4G connections.
The Stack
Built with Next.js for absolute speed and Vanilla CSS for a lightweight, app-like feel. We focused on performance metrics that matter: instant loading, smooth transitions, and zero layout shift.
The Outcome
We turned a simple cafe website into a conversion engine. By prioritizing the mobile experience, we made it effortless for new customers to choose Luma over the competition. It's not just a website; it's a digital flagship that proves to every client why a mobile-first strategy isn't optional for hospitality — it's the foundation of growth.
